MINUTES


Representative Steve Smith, Chair of the Public Safety Policy and Finance Committee, called the twentieth meeting to order at 10:24 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Rep. Soderstrom moved approval of the minutes of February 24, 2005, Public Safety Policy and Finance Meeting. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Rep. Smith removed HF42 from the table.

Rep. Howes presents HF42.

Rep. Smith moves that HF42 be recommended to pass, as amended, and that it be referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Rep. Cornish moves HF215 relating to Natural Resources Department volunteer instructor background checks provided, and safety training provisions modified.

Rep. Cornish presented HF215.

Rep. Cornish renewed his motion that HF215 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Ag/Environment/Natural Resource Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Rep. Newman moved HF1099 relating to gambling fraud crime provision clarified.

Rep. Newman presented HF1099.

Rep. Smith laid HF1099 on the table for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Policy and Finance Omnibus Bill.


Presentation by the Department of Human Services on Child Support Collection and related issues.

Rep. Smith moved HF1244 relating to DNA sample required of all persons arrested for or convicted of committing a felony, and money appropriated.
