PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME PREVENTION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the seventeenth meeting to order at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Hilty moved that the minutes of February 22, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF0469 (Gruenhagen) Harassment restraining order jurisdiction for petitions provided.

Representative Gruenhagen moved that HF0469 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee.

Representative Gruenhagen moved the H0469A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF0469.

Representative Gruenhagen renewed his motion that HF0469 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Judiciary Policy and Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Wendy Adler Robinson, Acting Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, and Mario Hernandez, Legislative and Community Affairs of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, gave an overview of the department’s budget and answered questions of the committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:55 a.m.
