MINUTES

Representative Lanning, Chair of the State Government Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:20 a.m. on May 5, 2011, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Kriesel and King Wilson, Executive Director of Allied Charities of Minnesota testified on HF 1485.

A quorum was present.

Chair Lanning moved HF 1485.

Chair Lanning moved the H1485A1 amendment to HF 1485. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Lanning moved the HF1485A2 amendment to HF 1485, as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Banaian moved the A11-0423 amendment to HF 1485, as amended.

Representative Banaian withdrew the A11-0423 amendment to HF 1485, as amended.

Gene Lindahl, Charitable Gambling Manager for the Morristown American Legion; Laurie Gluesing, Gambling Manager for Climb Theatre; Shawn Donahue, Spring Park Lake Lions Club; Mary Perren, Gambling Manager for the Cottage Grove Athletic Association; Victoria Winfrey, President of the Prairie Island Indian Community Tribal Council; Colin Minehart, Minnesota Mainstreet Bar & Grill; Tom Pritchard, President of the Minnesota Family Council; and Tom Barrett, Executive Director of the Gambling Control Board testified on HF 1485.

Chair Lanning moved that HF 1485, as amended, be recommended to pass, and re-referred to the Committee on Taxes. A DIVISION WAS CALLED (12-8). THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Kahn moved HF 1633.

Representative Kahn moved the HF1633DE1 amendment to HF 1633. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
Representative Norton; Deb Nusbaum, Director of the Flamingo Bingo Hall in Rochester, Minnesota; and King Wilson, Executive Director of Allied Charities of Minnesota testified on HF 1633.

Representative Kahn moved that HF 1633, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Taxes. A DIVISION WAS CALLED (10-6). THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Downey moved that HF 418 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Downey moved the H0545A4 amendment to HF 545, as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Downey incorporated the technical correction to the H0545A4 amendment.

Representative Downey moved that HF 545, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register.

Chair Lanning laid over HF 545 for further consideration.

Representative Murray moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on May 4, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:08 a.m.
