Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Education Finance Division, called the meeting to order at 9:45 am on February 19, 2019 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Murphy moved that the minutes from February 13, 2019 be approved. Motion prevailed.

Presentation on Homework Starts at Home initiative.

HF 813 (Richardson) Requires the Minnesota Department of Education to award a grant to a nationally recognized provider of evidence-based training on suicide prevention. Grant recipient must make the student suicide training and student mental health awareness available to teachers in every school district, charter school, intermediate school district or other cooperative unit, and tribal contact/grant school in Minnesota.

Rep. Richardson motioned that HF 813 be presented before the committee to be laid over for possible inclusion in a future K12 omnibus bill.

Rep. Richardson motioned that the A1 Amendment for HF 813 be adopted. Motion prevailed.

Rep. Richardson presented HF 813 A1, as amended; renewed motion that HF 813 A1, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in a future K12 omnibus bill. The bill was laid over.
