EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Laurie Pryor, Chair of the Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 3:01 PM on January 17, 2023 in Room 120 of the Capitol.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Keeler moved to approve the minutes from January 11, 2023. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF211 (Keeler); Indigenous Peoples' Day school observance required, and Indigenous Peoples' Day established as state holiday and Christopher Columbus Day eliminated as state holiday.

Representative Keeler moved that HF211 be referred to the Committee on State and Local Government Finance and Policy.

Representative Keeler presented HF211.

Representative Keeler renewed the motion that HF211 be referred to the Committee on State and
Local Government Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF133 (Becker-Finn); Tribally enrolled or descendent student educational data sharing allowed with Tribal nations.

Representative Frazier moved that HF133 be be referred to the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law.

Representative Becker-Finn presented HF133.

• Adosh Unni, Director of Government Relations, Minnesota Department of Education (MDE)

Representative Frazier renewed the motion that HF133 be referred to the Committee on Judiciary
Finance and Civil Law. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF170 (Becker-Finn); Interpreter requirements modified.

Representative Lee moved that HF170 be referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Becker-Finn presented HF170.
