Legislative Update – March 16, 2026

Dear Neighbors,

Last week, I was honored to speak on the House Floor as we unanimously passed my bill to rename the Community Solar Garden Program in honor of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman.

As a former Energy Committee Chair, one of Melissa's proudest achievements was the state’s community solar garden program. She traveled the country and the world sharing the benefits of this program, and today it’s held up as a model for other states to emulate.

House Voting Board lit up with green votes

Green was Melissa’s favorite color, so it was only fitting that we lit up the board green on this vote to ensure that her legacy as a green energy leader continues to be celebrated.

Community at the Capitol

It’s been an incredibly busy couple of weeks at the Capitol, but busy days are always improved when I can take time to visit with constituents. From meetings with students, teachers, nurses, local leaders, union members, and advocates, thank you all for coming to Saint Paul and making your voices heard!

Fighting and Preventing Fraud

Minnesotans deserve a government they can trust. One that ensures public funds are actually going towards helping our neighbors, not lining the pockets of fraudsters. This year, we’re building off the work of previous sessions and introducing a broad agenda to increase accountability, transparency, and program integrity.

5 News Article: House DFL rolls out nearly a dozen bills as part of anti-fraud package

We’ve started hearings on bills to hold fraudsters accountable, strengthen government oversight, modernize our outdated IT systems, and legislate these programs differently going forward. You can find our full agenda here.

Every dollar stolen by fraudsters is a dollar that doesn’t go to helping our neighbors with disabilities, supporting our seniors, or caring for our children, and that’s unacceptable. This session, I’m focused on passing these bills, preventing and prosecuting fraud, and protecting the programs that serve the most vulnerable Minnesotans.
