Dear Neighbors,

I provided a preview last week, but here’s your latest reminder to save the date for our upcoming Town Hall!

On Sunday, March 15, Sen. Nick Fentz and I will be hosting a District 18 Town Hall at Mankato’s East High School. Doors will open at 12:30pm, we’ll get started at 12:45pm, and wrap up around 2:45pm.

Town Hall

There’s no shortage of issues to discuss, but if you have a particular topic you’d like us to address, feel free to submit it here.

I hope to see you there!

Helping Minnesotans Afford Their Lives

In Minnesota, you should be able to afford your life on an average salary - but right now, it’s becoming harder than ever for families to make ends meet. With record wealth inequality, a disappearing middle class, and a system that’s built for the rich and well-connected rather than the rest of us, the House DFL is setting forward a vision of the future where Minnesotans have power and control over their own lives and can thrive.

This week, my DFL colleagues unveiled our plan to address affordability in key areas where costs are out of control - namely health care, child care, housing, energy, and groceries.

Helping Minnesotans Afford Their Lives

This is just a snapshot of what we’ll be pushing for this session. As with all proposals this year, all it takes is one Republican to join us - or bring their own solutions to the table. When it comes to lowering costs for Minnesotans, I don’t care where the idea comes from, it’s about delivering results.

Constituent Corner

This was a big week for “Days on the Hill” at the State Capitol. With a shorter legislative session this year, I think that’ll probably be the case for every week going forward!

The first group I was able to meet with were students studying Social Work - a crucial profession for our state’s social safety net. It was great talking to these bright, compassionate young minds.

There was also a group of high school students that made the trip up to St. Paul to advocate with the American Lung Association. They shared their experiences with the predatory practices used to get young people into vaping.

While not exactly a constituent, I also had a very important meeting with a representative from the Minnesota Humane Society - it was Puppy Day at the Capitol on Thursday.

I always welcome meetings with constituents - four-legged or otherwise. Be sure to let me know when you’re coming up to the State Capitol to advocate for the causes you care about!
