House Legislative POCI Caucus Condemns Repeal on MNCare for Undocumented Adult Minnesotans

Monday, June 9, 2025

St. Paul, MN- Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives will vote to repeal MNCare for undocumented adult Minnesotans. This extension of healthcare to everyone was a priority of the House People of Color and Indigenous (POCI) Caucus during the 2023-2024 biennium.

The House People of Color and Indigenous Caucus released the following statement:

"This is unconscionable hypocrisy: Republicans rip healthcare away from our most vulnerable while handing millions in tax breaks to wealthy corporations. These cruel, calculated, and targeted attacks continue to hit hardest on Black, Brown, and Indigenous Minnesotans who depend on these essential services.

"We must hold the line against anti-immigrant forces both in Minnesota and from the Trump administration. Healthcare is just the beginning—ICE raids, environmental injustices, and corporate giveaways create a cascade of harm that systematically targets our communities. Every time "compromise" decisions like this are made, it's another reminder that our needs don't matter and our lives are expendable. Our communities deserve better than legislators who weaponize 'fiscal responsibility' as a smokescreen for discriminatory policies.

"Our medical community—mental health providers, trauma units, and frontline healthcare workers—understands the devastating cost of ripping away healthcare coverage. These aren't just policy debates; they're life-and-death decisions that will leave families without care when they need it most. The idea that we don't have enough to take care of everyone is simply a fascist falsehood. When corporate tax giveaways and healthcare cuts happen simultaneously, it's a double assault on the very communities that built this state.

"Minnesota's safety and prosperity depend on ensuring everyone has access to healthcare, regardless of immigration status. We will not support this Republican measure and we will not give another inch to those who would sacrifice human dignity for corporate profits."

The House POCI Caucus is composed of; Rep. Cedrick Frazier (Co-Chair) (DFL-New Hope 43A), Rep. Liish Kozlowski (Co-Chair) (DFL-Duluth 08B), Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega (Vice Chair) (DFL-St. Paul 65B), Rep. Aisha Gomez (DFL-Minneapolis 62A), Rep. Anquam Mahamoud (DFL-Minneapolis 62B), Rep. Athena Hollins (DFL-St. Paul 66B), Rep.
