Dear Neighbors,
The No Kings Rally was a powerful reminder of how strong our communities are when we come together to fight back against harm and violence. It was a joy to be in community as we stood up against authoritarianism, demanding accountability, and speaking truth into action.
During Operation Metro Surge, our communities—from rural Minnesota to the Twin Cities—showed up day after day to protect our neighbors. Regular people who are struggling to put food on their own tables made sure no other families or children had to suffer from hunger. Within our collective movement, rapid response networks were created to provide mutual aid, rental assistance, and food trains; these are no small feats. It took innovative thinking, community solidarity, resourcing, and coordination to ensure we left no one behind.
I am deeply honored to serve our district, to be a Minnesotan, and most importantly—to be your friend and neighbor. I know many of us are sick and tired of a system that keeps the rich richer and the poor vulnerable. We all deserve to live a life where we can afford healthcare, groceries, and gas to get us where we need to go. We deserve to enjoy the comfort of our homes after a long day at work—we deserve to know our hard work will amount to a retirement fund that bears the fruits of our labor. We deserve to live in peace with our beloved communities. We all deserve this future, and I know that by working together as we have over the past few months, we can make it happen.
This weekend, the energy was palpable, but we can’t let this just be a moment. It must be about our collective movement forward. I hope we can use the fire inside all of us to recommit to change, to justice, and to making Minnesota welcoming for all.

Coffee and Conversation
We are at the halfway point of the 2026 legislative session. Thus far, this session has been marked by challenges, with Republicans stalling efforts on common-sense policies that Minnesotans are demanding. Join me at Heal MPLS from 11AM to 1PM on Saturday, April 11 for my upcoming Coffee & Conversation. I look forward to sitting down with you and sharing an update from the Capitol.
This is a community event open to all community members; no registration is required. Please bring your questions, comments, and concerns. I look forward to hearing your feedback. See you there!

Republicans Voted Against Minnesotans
Last week, in an unprecedented move, DFLers brought forward important bills that Republicans had been stalling in committee. We brought them directly to the House floor to force Republicans to show Minnesotans whose side they are on. Despite our attempts, they rejected legislation to:
- Ban high-capacity magazines
- Ban assault weapons
- Ban ICE from schools
It is frustrating that our efforts to address the gun violence epidemic are met with abstract arguments that no law will prevent harm. We make policy not only for prevention, but also for redress and accountability. 2025 was traumatic for our entire state; from the assassination of our beloved Speaker Melissa Hortman, Mark Hortman, and their family dog, Gilbert, to the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School, we cannot afford to sit idly by.
We won’t give up this fight—Democrats will keep working with victims, survivors, community leaders, and advocates until we pass these policies into law.
