Dear Neighbors,

I hope you’re staying cool in this heat. Ramsey County has several public cooling spaces, which you can find more information on here, in addition to other resources

I also wanted to remind our neighbors about the event I’m hosting tomorrow - a Public Safety & Community Resources Roundtable. We’ll be at Midwest Community Care, tomorrow, Wednesday, July 15, from 6-9pm.

This will be an opportunity to bring together public safety leaders, workforce partners, and community organizations to discuss practical solutions for crime prevention, youth engagement, violence intervention, mental health, workforce development, and connecting residents to the resources they need. By working together, we can strengthen partnerships and improve safety and opportunity throughout our communities.

I’ll be joined by Rep. Maria Is Perez-Vega, Commissioner Rena Moran, and Councilmember Anika Bowie. Other leaders joining us include the following:

  • Ramsey County Attorney John Choi
  • Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher
  • St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry
  • Representatives from the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED)
  • Representative from Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB)

This is sure to be a great event, and I hope I see you there!

And mark your calendars for another event - our District 65 Town Hall on Monday, July 20. We’ll be at Parque Castillo starting at 6:00pm.

Lastly, I also wanted to let you know that this will be my final newsletter until November. Mid-July marks our 60-day deadline since the end of the legislative session, when Minnesota law requires unsolicited official communications to stop until after the 2026 election. This is so that an unfair advantage is not given to incumbents. As a result, this will likely be the last newsletter you receive from my office until later this year.

This is the only notable change - I want to emphasize that my office is available to constituents year-round to assist you with your needs. As always, you can reach me at 651-296-5158 or rep.samakab.hussein@house.mn.gov. I look forward to hearing from you.

It’s an honor to represent you in the Minnesota House.

Sincerely,

Samakab Hussein
