Rep. Ben Bakeberg Statement on Mosque Fire in Prior Lake
St. Paul - Rep. Ben Bakeberg (R-Jordan) released the following statement after a fire caused significant damage to Masjid Hamza and Baitul Hikmah Academy early Monday morning:
“I am saddened by the devastating fire at Masjid Hamza and Baitul Hikmah Academy. This mosque and school are important to many families in our community, and my thoughts are with everyone affected.
Thank you to the firefighters who worked in difficult conditions to keep people safe and prevent further harm. I am grateful there were no injuries. I encourage all of us to stand with the families, students, and staff during this difficult time.”
With the cause still undetermined, the State Fire Marshal and federal ATF officials are conducting a full investigation given that the building houses a religious institution.
