Dear Community,
In the House, I’m working with my DFL colleagues to deliver on a package of bills designed to make day-to-day living a bit more affordable. All Minnesotans should be able to afford their lives, and for too long corporations and billionaires have profited far too much at our expense. I will work to reverse that trend by passing legislation that directly improves your quality of life by making affordable housing, energy costs, groceries, child care, and health care within reach for all Minnesotans.

Meanwhile, Trump has dragged us all into an immoral, illegal, and expensive war with Iran. We are facing immense domestic economic issues yet he would rather spend billions on a war no American asked for. Now gas prices are rising, putting a dent in your wallet. Trump’s war has also claimed the life of fellow Minnesotan Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor. Nicole was just days from returning home and my deep condolences are with her family.
My Work at the Capitol
I joined Senator Maye-Quade and labor allies to announce our bill to slow the adoption of Waymo autonomous vehicles. While I don't oppose new technology that could make our streets safer, we must implement it on our own terms. Big Tech too often takes advantage of our desire for new possibilities and we have to clean up the consequences years later. Let's do this right and make sure Waymo doesn't hurt labor, safety, or our local and state budgets.

On Wednesday my bill to limit ICE access to child care centers was heard in committee. It was a common and terrible tactic for ICE to wait around child care centers to use kids as a sort of bait to apprehend parents and workers. We can not tolerate armed and masked agents in our child care centers. Thank you to the parents from our district who came out and shared their powerful stories about patrolling to keep our communities safe.

Gun Violence Prevention
The Public Safety Committee heard a bill to ban assault rifles and a bill to ban high capacity magazines. Neither received a Republican vote so they won’t move forward at this time. I believe this is an issue that should go beyond politics. The lives of our children and grandchildren are at stake, and there is nothing more precious. I encourage you to watch the testimony of the parents who lost their daughter on that tragic day. I will continue to fight to pass these common sense reforms.
