Legislative Update from Rep. Liz Lee

Thursday, July 2, 2026
Liz Lee Banner

Dear Neighbors,

I hope your summer is going well and you’re staying cool. With everything being so expensive these days, many neighbors are hunkering down and staying close to home this year; my family is.

I am writing to invite you to connect with our District 67 delegation on Thursday, July 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m for a community town hall.

Please register and submit any questions you have ahead of time. Register here: bit.ly/4a0f0bc If you need accommodations or have any additional inquiries, please contact my legislative assistant, Emma Erdahl, at Emma.Erdahl@house.mn.gov.

I look forward to seeing you there!

July 1 for New Laws!

As you may know, July 1 is a common enactment date for many of the bills that we pass at the legislature. One example is that effective July 1, 2026, social media platforms must have a mental health warning that appears each time a user accesses the platform and only disappears when the user either exits the platform or acknowledges the potential for harm and chooses to proceed.

The warning label’s text must warn the user of potential mental health impacts from using social media and provide resources to address potential mental health impacts, including the national suicide hotline number and website. This is just one big first step in ensuring that when young people use the internet, they do so safely.

As a reminder, these are just some of my legislative accomplishments from the 25-26 legislative session.

Reflecting on the Fourth of July

I recently had the honor of welcoming the National Asian Pacific American Museum Commission to the Twin Cities! As our nation approaches its 250th birthday, it’s more important than ever that we tell a complete story of America - this includes the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander experiences. The Museum commission is still taking comments to help shape the future of a national APA Museum through the end of July. You can submit comments here.
