St. Paul, MN — Today, members of the House Latine Caucus Rep. María Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL-St. Paul), Rep. Liish Kozlowski (DFL-Duluth), and Rep. Aisha Gomez (DFL-Minneapolis) will honor labor leader and matriarch of the National Farm Workers Association, Dolores Huerta, with a House resolution recognizing April 10, 2026, as Dia del Movimiento y La Causa. April 10 is also Huerta's birthday; this year, she turns 96.
The House Latine Caucus released the following statement:
“Dolores Huerta has devoted her life to improving civil rights for farm and labor workers across the nation. She has shown us how to be courageous at any age, teaching us that we do not have to hold onto pain or suffer in silence. Through this resolution, we honor the women who have led movements to transform our communities; we offer this as a path toward healing and the celebration of our collective comunidad. As we continue to move forward together, we will keep fighting for a future where women can flourish in all places, especially within our movements. ¡Sí, se puede!”
“Dolores Huerta has shown generations what it means to organize with courage, lead with conviction, and never give up on justice,” added House DFL Leader Zack Stephenson. “Her legacy is a powerful reminder that the fight for dignity, fairness, and opportunity has always been driven by courageous women — especially Latine leaders whose contributions too often go unrecognized. We honor not only her extraordinary life’s work, but also the enduring impact of the Latine community here in Minnesota. I’m grateful to the members of the House Latine Caucus for their ongoing courage and leadership in uplifting this history and ensuring we commemorate both the struggles and the resilience that continue to shape our state.”
