Legislative Update

Friends and Neighbors,

I hope you are prepared for the freezing winter weather that is ahead! Here are a couple of quick updates from St. Paul:

The Storming of Cities Church

Radical leftists reached a new low this past weekend with their storming of the Sunday morning service at Cities Church in St. Paul. They protested a peaceful Christian worship ceremony over the allegation that one of the pastors is associated with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Everyone has the right to protest, but the way in which this protest was conducted is an infringement of the First Amendment rights of others, and a violation of federal and state law. The harassment of parishioners is unacceptable, and they must be held legally accountable for their actions.

As Christians, we pray that all will come to the saving knowledge and relationship with Jesus. However, we cannot sit by and allow this type of religious persecution to permeate into a greater problem. In response, I wrote to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and the St. Paul City Attorney to demand they investigate and prosecute the people who did this.

Please see my letter below calling for charges to be brought against the perpetrators.

Fraud Committee Update:

Following up on my previous newsletter, I am pleased to inform you that federal investigations on Minnesota's fraud epidemic are ongoing. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent has surged agency resources into Minnesota to perform a forensic audit of foreign wire transfers. The investigations will take time, but I'm grateful the federal government has dedicated hundreds of investigators to this work in Minnesota that are on the ground right now.

Today, at a hearing of the MN House Fraud Committee, I questioned Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner (the state's top financial officer) Erin Campbell regarding what the Walz Administration's plans are to safeguard our state's payment structures and inter-agency systems against future fraud. Among other topics, we addressed control system assessments, the monitoring of audit reports, and enhanced anti-fraud training for state employees. Minnesotans demand accountability from Tim Walz and his administration for the outrageous amount of fraud we have experienced.
