Dear Neighbors,

The dust is settling on the 2026 Legislative Session, and as we take stock of what was accomplished and what work remains, I want to invite our neighbors to a Town Hall on Tuesday, May 26, with our District 49 Team. We’ll recap the legislative session, talk about the bills that passed, and discuss what didn’t make it over the finish line and why.

The event will get started at 7:00pm. To get the location information, please RSVP here.

Town Hall

I hope to see you there, but regardless of whether you can make it on Tuesday, always feel free to reach out to discuss our work at the State Capitol.

Our District 49 Team is always happy to hear from you and work with our constituents, whether that’s at Town Halls or other community events - just the other day we met with students at Eden Prairie High School, talking about how to be engaged citizens. It’s more than just voting, but participating in democracy on issues that matter to our next generation of leaders.

High School Students

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished despite the uphill battle of trying to advance progress in a tied Minnesota House. At the same time, there’s much more we could’ve done with just one more DFL vote - gun violence prevention, support and protections for those impacted by Operation Metro Surge, and safeguards for our environment, to name a few.

However, even with divided government, we were able to pass much-needed legislation. For profit health plans were using AI to unjustly deny Minnesotans coverage, and I authored a new law to stop that practice. We passed an infrastructure bill that will invest in communities and good-paying jobs, including my legislation to deliver $2 million for Eden Prairie’s new garage for public safety services, and $2.5 million for Minnetonka’s new fire station.

Working together, we also managed to pass a lifeline for HCMC and established the Office of Inspector General to fight and prosecute fraud in our state services. There’s more work to do, and it’s work I’m grateful to do alongside our neighbors. We may not have official legislative hearings or floor sessions anymore, but the work still continues. I'm working on bills for next year, helping constituents on case work with state agencies, and will be holding listening sessions and work groups to see what you want out of your state government in the coming years. Please continue to reach out if you need assistance with anything.

Thank you for the incredible honor of serving our communities in the Minnesota House.

Thank You, Cwod

Lastly, thank you Senator Cwodzinski for his decade of service to Minnetonka and Eden Prairie. "Cwod," as his former students and most in the capitol call him, spent 10 years serving our community after 34 years of teaching, notably as Chair of the Education Committee. He used his lifetime of experience and career to guide our public education system toward the future.

Cwod, your legacy will endure and we'll miss seeing you at the capitol, but I wish you, Patti, and your family the best in your official and well-deserved retirement.

In partnership,
