Rep. Kari Rehrauer Comments on Convening of 2025 Special Session

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Today, the Minnesota Legislature convened for a special session to pass remaining pieces of the state budget for the 2026-2027 biennium. Representative Kari Rehrauer (DFL – Coon Rapids) released the following statement as the special session convened.

“At the table through tough negotiations, I am proud that DFLers fought hard to protect our children, families, workers, and all the people of Minnesota. There was a lot of good bipartisan work done on specific bills throughout this session, and especially in the last few weeks, as difficult compromises were needed in order to agree on a budget.

“While there are a number of things that I wish were different in the budget, there is also a lot of good that will help support Minnesota and the programs Minnesotans rely on, especially as we face uncertainty with Federal program funding. Because of the unity of Democrats, we will continue to take power out of the hands of billionaires and put it back into the hands of working families.”

Currently in her first term in the Minnesota House, Rep. Rehrauer serves on the Education Finance, Housing, and Veterans and Military Affairs committees. This session, Rep. Rehrauer championed legislation to streamline access to services for Veterans and to address Minnesota’s housing crisis.
