Han Mitákuye Owási? (Hello all my relations), Last night, I gave my first floor speech in the House Chamber. It was a deeply heartening moment, as we voted unanimously to rename the state’s Community Solar Garden Program in honor of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman. It brought tears to my eyes to recall the genuine care she showed my tribe and her sincere desire to learn from our Dakota ways. Though I did not have the pleasure of serving alongside her, her legacy as a champion for both our people and for solar energy is undeniable. With this tribute, we ensure her light continues to power our communities for generations to come. Pidámayaye ye (thank you), Melissa, you will forever be a guiding light. Watch my floor remarks here. Legislative Town Hall Just a little reminder, if you haven’t yet, please be sure to sign up for our upcoming community town hall. Register and pre-submit your questions using the link below. Please reach out to my legislative assistant Maren Twedt, with any questions or if you need accommodations, such as translation services. I want to ensure all of our community feels welcome and has the tools they need to stay engaged. We will provide an update on legislation being introduced and voted on at the legislature, answer constituent questions, and discuss how we can work together to improve our district. Jackie Flavin and Mike Moyski, parents of 10-year-old Harper Moyski, recently penned an honest reflection on how their gut-wrenching testimony was not enough to move Republicans to action or to vote in favor of the bills. It is a courageous act for this grieving family to seek justice for their daughter while fighting to prevent this horrifying tragedy from happening to any other family. Please read their plea here. Minnesotans deserve better from Republicans. Stay Connected Thank you again for the privilege of serving as your State Representative; I will continue to work hard to ensure your voice and your passions are realized here in the House.
