RELEASE: Statement from Rep. Davids on updated MNsure enrollment

Wednesday, March 9, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN—Representative Greg Davids, R-Preston, co-chair of the MNsure Legislative Oversight Committee, issued the following statement regarding today's MNsure board meeting and recently released MNsure budget documents showing dramatically reduced final enrollment numbers from this year's open enrollment period.

"For weeks, MNsure refused my requests to come clean with Minnesota about how many people successfully bought coverage through its website. The documents released today make it clear that MNsure misled lawmakers and the public for over a month, celebrating goals they knew they did not meet. MNsure actually missed its enrollment goal by over 12,000 people -- 15% below their target. This has real consequences for taxpayers, who will be forced to foot the bill and pay higher taxes despite promises from Democrats that MNsure would be self-sustaining.

"Additionally, at today's meeting, board members once again indicated that thousands of Minnesotans will be forced to wait even longer to file taxes due to delayed 1095-A forms. These unacceptable delays could result in penalties and headaches, and I will continue my efforts to prevent Minnesotans from having to pay penalties as a result of MNsure's incompetence."
