SAINT PAUL, MN – Rep. Sondra Erickson, R-Princeton, issued the following statement following the release of the February forecast budget update:
"Today's budget forecast is more good news for Minnesota. Thanks to the fiscal restraint of the Republican majorities in 2011-2012, the state has generated billions of dollars of additional tax revenue without raising taxes. These budget improvements have helped pay back the money owed to our schools, including another $290 million dollars today.
"With our economy showing significant signs of improvement, now is not the time to jeopardize the gains that we have made. Governor Dayton and the DFL should think twice before continuing to pursue an irresponsible $3.7 billion dollar tax increase to solve a $627 million dollar budget gap. We need to continue to promote policies that will foster economic growth and continued job creation."
