Dear Friends,

Senator Dave Brown and I will be holding a series of town hall meetings next month on Saturday, February 8th. The meetings begin at 8:00AM in Princeton and will conclude with a 2PM meeting in Ogilvie.

Please see the full schedule below, and consider attending if you have questions or would like to share what you think legislative priorities should be in 2014.

8:00AM— K-Bob Cafe in Princeton

10:00AM—Hi-Way Cafe in Milaca on north Central Ave

12:00PM—Onamia Vet’s Club at Intersection of 169/27

2:00PM—Ground House Coffee Shop in Ogilvie on Highway 23

Bill Introductions
Earlier this month was the pre-filing deadline for bills to be submitted before session starts on February 25th. They will receive their first reading on the first day of session. Pre-filing allows legislators to begin gathering support for their bills and starts the discussion about what bills will be given priority when session resumes next month.

Here's a brief summary of the bills I have chief-authored:

HF1935: This bill would prohibit students from being placed in the classroom of teachers with the lowest evaluation rating in consecutive years unless there is no other teacher available who teaches that grade. I authored this bill because I'm a firm believer that every student needs an effective teacher, so I want to give principals more authority over teacher and student placement.

HF2053 and HF2054: These bills are requests from the Ogilvie City Council that would appropriate money to help clean up the old Ogilvie school site.

I am also a co-author on three education bills, HF1934, HF1936, and HF1937. If you would like more information on these, or any of the other bills I have authored or co-authored you can visit my bills-authored page on the House website.

As always, I welcome your comments, suggestions and input for bill ideas and priorities for this upcoming legislative session. You can contact my office by calling 651-296-6746 or by email at rep.sondra.erickson@house.mn

Take care,

Rep. Sondra Erickson
