Urdahl performs House oath again as 2023 session begins

Tuesday, January 3, 2023

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, performed his 11th oath of office in the Minnesota House of Representatives Tuesday as the 93rd Legislature was installed at the Capitol in St. Paul.

Urdahl was re-elected to the House in November. He serves the newly configured District 16A seat. The new district represents a significant geographic shift to the west from the area Urdahl previously served. The updated configuration places Litchfield at the eastern border and stretches west past Montevideo. The district includes Fairfax to the south and encompasses Eden Valley and Watkins to the north.

“The way our district looks on a map is different, but my legislative approach remains the same,” Urdahl said. “I continue to be quite engaged with my constituency and responsive to the needs of the people I represent, whether it’s working to address local issues or advocating for our best interests on statewide matters. I look forward to taking on the challenges the new session brings, especially as we make decisions regarding our state’s $17.6 billion surplus and the significant tax relief that should come with it.”

Urdahl recently gained an appointment to continue serving as the lead Republican on the House Capital Investment Committee for the 2023-24 biennium. Urdahl previously chaired the committee before taking on the lead minority role the last four years. In addition to his post on bonding, Urdahl will serve the House Education Policy Committee this biennium.

Urdahl said he encourages local citizens in District 16A to contact his legislative office this session by calling (651) 296-4344 or by emailing rep.dean.urdahl@house.mn.gov. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them on his personal page at the official House website: www.house.mn.
