HAMILTON BILL WOULD COMPLETE LEWIS AND CLARK PROJECT

Thursday, April 7, 2016

ST. PAUL – State Representative Rod Hamilton (R-Mountain Lake) is chief author of legislation that would complete the long-awaited Lewis and Clark Regional Water System project.

"The majority of the funding for the pipeline is in place, and a reliable water source is now available in Luverne," Hamilton said. "Now it is critical for all parties involved to continue their advocacy for Lewis and Clark and finish the job by extending it to Worthington."

Hamilton's bill seeks bonding proceeds to complete the pipeline to Magnolia, extend it to the Lincoln-Pipestone Rural Water System connection near Adrian and establish a connection in Worthington.

"This project has been in the works for more than 20 years," Hamilton said. "The people of Worthington and the surrounding area have waited for water long enough, and I am hopeful this is the year we will make the final funding appropriation."

Hamilton's bill was held over for possible inclusion in a comprehensive Jobs Growth and Energy Affordability Policy and Finance funding proposal, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
