Rep. Hansen Statement on Inflow and Infiltration

St. Paul, Minn.-Representative Rick Hansen presented HF 183 yesterday to the House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee.  The bill appropriates $10,000,000 in bonds to fund improvements in municipal waste water collections systems to reduce the amount of inflow and infiltration to the sanitary sewer disposal systems.   Rep. Hansen released the following statement:

“After attending several neighborhood meetings and having numerous discussions on the importance of infiltration in our community, I was pleased to present this issue to the House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance Committee.  I am hopeful that this bill will be included in the final bonding bill and will continue to fight for its inclusion.”

The Governor’s bonding recommendation which was released on January 14, 2016, includes $5 million for local governments to correct inflow and infiltration problems in municipal waste water collection systems.  These grants require a match from local governments.
