Republicans abandon budget negotiations and pass environment bill that’s sure to be vetoed

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

SAINT PAUL, MN—Today, Republicans in the Minnesota House voted to pass the conference committee report on HF 888, the environment and natural resources finance bill. Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) released the following statement:

“It’s irresponsible for Republicans to abandon budget negotiations with the Governor. The people of Minnesota don’t want to cut, gut, and roll back programs for outdoor recreation or that keep the water we drink safe and the air we breathe clean, but that’s exactly what Republicans are doing today. Just as we see at the federal level, Republicans are showing how little they care about our environment and how much they care about scoring political points and gutting environmental protections for big moneyed special interests and their rich campaign donors.”

Rep. Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) is the DFL-Lead on the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance. Rep. Hansen has authored nation leading legislation on pollinator and environmental protections.
