Legislative Update - August 21, 2019

Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Dear neighbors,

It’s hard to believe that we’re more than halfway through August, but there’s still many events to enjoy in the remaining weeks of summer.

Minnesota State Fair

The Great Minnesota Get Together begins tomorrow! I’m looking forward to trying some new foods, seeing the exhibits, and talking with folks at the House of Representatives booth in the Education Building. If you’d like to stop by, I’ll be there at the following times:

  • Thursday, August 22 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Friday, August 23 from 12 – 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 28 from 4 – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 29 from 12 – 2 p.m.

As you plan your trip to the State Fair, I encourage you to check what transportation options are available in your area. State Fair Express buses depart from 17 different locations, including the Signal Hills Shopping Center in West St. Paul, and drop passengers off at the entrance to the fairgrounds. There are also park and ride spots where you can park and catch a bus straight to the fairgrounds for free. Maps of these locations and more details are available here.

The House of Representatives conducts an annual, informal survey of fairgoers who visit our booth. The video above covers the results of last year’s poll.

Croatian Hall’s 100th Anniversary

The Croatian Hall is celebrating its 100th anniversary this weekend. The celebration will include traditional live music, Croatian food, and activities that people of all ages will enjoy. You can read about the history of Croatian Hall here. Event details are available here.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new people while celebrating our great state and community in the coming days.

Sincerely,

Rick Hansen
State Representative
