Dear neighbors,
This afternoon, Governor Walz announced that several COVID-19 restrictions will be rolled back or modified next week.
The following adjustments take effect on Monday, March 15:
- Outdoor gatherings of up to 50 people and indoor gatherings of 15 people will be permitted
- Bars and restaurants can operate at 75 percent capacity, and bar seating will increase to parties of four
- Gyms, fitness centers, and pools can operate at 50 percent capacity
- Large venues, celebrations, and receptions can take place at 50 percent capacity
- Salons and barbers will have no occupancy limits
- Wedding ceremonies and religious services will have no occupancy limits
Additional modifications will take effect as more Minnesotans are vaccinated. For example, large venues can add additional capacity on April 1. Working from home if you can will continue to be strongly recommended, but Minnesotans will not be required to after April 15. You can find more information about these public health measures at staysafe.mn.gov.
This is very encouraging news, and a sign that the end of the pandemic is near. However, we’re not out of the woods yet. It’s still extremely important to take steps to protect yourself and others, such as wearing a mask and social distancing.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can be of assistance. You can reach me by email at rep.rick.hansen@house.mn or over the phone at 651-296-4165.
Sincerely,
Rick Hansen
