Rep. Hansen Authors Resolution Celebrating 50th Anniversary of National Wild Turkey Federation
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Yesterday, Representative Rick Hansen (DFL – South St. Paul) authored a House resolution commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF). The NWTF is dedicated to the conservation of wild turkeys throughout the United States.
The resolution was signed by Speaker Melissa Hortman, Majority Leader Jamie Long, and Representative Hansen. The signing ceremony was attended by NWTF Director of Development Tom Glines and NWTF Regional Director Steve Misvaer. Also present were staff from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, including Commissioner Sarah Strommen, Assistant Commissioner Bob Meier, Director of Fish and Wildlife Dave Olfelt, and Region 3 Director Grant Wilson.
“I am proud to author this resolution to honor the conservation efforts of the National Wild Turkey Federation,” said Rep. Hansen. “The restoration of native, wild Turkey is one of the biggest environmental success stories in our state’s history. That history began 50 years ago with the creation of the NTF, whose efforts started right here in southeastern Minnesota and will continue in the years to come.”
