Dear neighbors,
I was honored to be a part of the amazing reception for Zoran Milanovic, the President of the Republic of Croatia, last Friday at the Croatian Hall in South St. Paul, hosted by the Croatian Cultural Society of Minnesota. The last presidential visit was in 1990, and I’m so glad President Milanovic chose our district to visit during his diplomatic and trade mission. It was even covered by Croatian news outlets!
I’ve been proud to support the Croatian Hall throughout my time in the legislature, preserving the unique history of our district and providing a community and event space that hosts everything from school sport fundraisers to presidential visits!

I was also glad to attend the ribbon-cutting last week for a new playground at Hilltop Elementary in Inver Grove Heights, funded by a provision I authored in the 2024 Environment bill.
Working with local partners at ISD199 and fellow legislators, we successfully secured this funding and ensured that children will have a safer and more accessible place to play in the years to come.

As a member of the House’s Capital Investment Committee, I have the opportunity to tour the state with my colleagues from both sides of the aisle as we meet with local communities to hear about their needs for bonding projects. These projects help strengthen our local communities, improve key public services, and keep local property tax dollars down with help from the state legislature.
Last week, we traveled across Northwest Minnesota, visiting Brooklyn Park, Bemidji, Moorhead, Alexandria and more. It’s an opportunity to see the impact past projects have made, like attending a community college groundbreaking, and also to see where we need to continue to invest in water infrastructure, public safety facilities, and flood mitigation efforts.
The tour will continue throughout the Fall, and I’m looking forward to continuing to meet with Minnesotans across the state and host the tour in our District later this year.
It’s almost time for On the Road Again, celebrating its 37th anniversary on Southview Blvd, taking place this Saturday, October 4th starting at 9:00 am and going all day!
Join in the fall festivities, which will include a car show, live music featuring Vivian Hayes and the Hi Praise, arts and craft booths, community booths, the annual pickle contest, SSP Lions Club Beer Garden, food trucks, and of course, the Annual SSP BOOYA Competition, where I will be volunteering as I have in years past! I hope to see you there.
