Legislative Update – October 22, 2025

Dear neighbors,

In last week’s newsletter, I wrote about how I joined striking workers at Twin Cities Tanning in our district in their fight for a fair contract. I’m happy to share that solidarity prevailed, and workers secured a contract worthy of their value and expertise.

Every Minnesotan deserves a job that helps them not just survive, but thrive, and I’ll continue to fight for Minnesotans’ ability to join a union and advocate for themselves in the workplace.

This weekend, I was proud to see our community come out in force to protest the chaos and cruelty coming from Washington, D.C. We had over 758 people out in our district, making their voices heard! I also stopped by the Fall Fair and dedication of a new mural at the Croatian Hall, a great showcase of our district’s history, thanks to Jaclee Slaba and her amazing work!

St. Paul Park Council Meeting

On Monday, I spoke at the St. Paul Park City Council meeting about infrastructure funding, capital investment, and preparing for the 2026 session. I’m glad to continue my partnership with Mayor Keith Franke, which began when we were both legislators. Together we’ve worked to fund infrastructure projects like on 3rd Street and the Lions Levee Park, as well as future projects like updating the 70th Street Exit. You can watch Mayor Franke’s introduction and my comments here

I was also glad to stick around to see a presentation from members at the Newport Masonic Lodge #118 and the Sisters of the Eastern Star, who were being recognized with signs around the city for all the great work they do in our community.

And while we’re talking about St. Paul Park, I also want to highlight this Friday’s Trunk or Treat starting at 5:00 pm at Heritage Park. It’s a free, family-friendly event, and you can find more details on Facebook here

Tick Prevention

Enjoying the crisp fall air? Well, so do the ticks! Adult blacklegged ticks are active in the fall, until temperatures drop below freezing or snow covers the ground. The best way to prevent tickborne disease is to prevent tick bites.

  • Make sure to use repellent throughout the season when you are outdoors!
  • Walk in the center of the trail to reduce contact with ticks.
  • Perform full-body tick checks after being outdoors in areas where ticks may be present.
  • Remove the ticks ASAP.
