Hansen re-appointed as chair legislative auditor subcommittee: The group is tasked with selecting topics to be independently reviewed by the Office of the Legislative Auditor

Friday, March 13, 2015

St. Paul—This week Representative Rick Hansen (DFL-South Saint Paul) was re-appointed to serve as the chair of the Program Evaluation Subcommittee of the Legislative Audit Commission.

“It is an honor to again serve on the Program Evaluation Subcommittee,” said Representative Hansen. “Over the last two years we worked in a bi-partisan way to take a closer look at state programs and how public dollars are spent. Everyone on the commission takes the role of protecting public money seriously. It believe it is a testament to my previous bi-partisan work on the commission that I was re-appointed while serving in the minority. I look forward to working with my colleagues from both parties to continue this important work.”

The program evaluation subcommittee uses the following criteria to recommend projects to review:

  • Are significant state government resources involved?

  • Does the state control the program or organizations?

  • Are there significant social and/or economic impacts?

  • Is this an appropriate time for an evaluation?

  • Are data and resources available for an evaluation?

  • Would the topic contribute to a balanced work agenda for the program Evaluation Division?

Members of public and public interest groups may also suggests topics for review by contacting members of the commission, Rep. Hansen, or contacting the Legislative Auditor at 651-296-4708 or james.nobles@state.mn.us. Rep. Hansen can be contacted at his office at 651-296-6828 or by email at rep.rick.hansen@house.mn.
