ST. PAUL, MN—Rep. Bob Dettmer, R-Forest Lake, has been renamed chair of the Veterans Affairs Division of the State Government Finance Committee, appointed by House Speaker Kurt Daudt after Republicans held their majority in the Minnesota House following the 2016 election. Dettmer also served as chair of the Veterans Affairs Division during the 2015-2016 session.
"It will be an honor to continue working towards meaningful legislation for our state's veterans community," said Dettmer. "I look forward to partnering with Governor Dayton, members of the Veterans Affairs Division, and with a newly-elected GOP Senate Majority in enacting these reforms. Last session, we made history by eliminating state taxes on veterans pensions, but there's still more work to do to ensure we are keeping our promises and doing right by those who protect and defend our nation."
