Legislative update

Thursday, January 5, 2023

Dear Neighbor,

We’re making our way to the end of the first week of the 2023 legislative session after the 93rd Legislature was installed at the Capitol in St. Paul on Tuesday.

The dynamics at the Capitol changed with the results of the November election. I hope we are able to achieve true compromise on important actions we will take on this year’s most important issues – particularly with the state’s surplus of $17.6 billion where we have an opportunity to provide significant tax relief.

As noted in a recent email update, I will be serving as the lead Republican on the House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee for the 2023-24 biennium. In addition, I will serve on House committees related to sustainable infrastructure and property taxes.

It will be interesting to see what transpires before the Legislature is scheduled to adjourn in late May, so stay tuned for updates along the way. Aside from my email updates, here are some informational links provided by the Minnesota House of Representatives to help you track the latest legislative events from home:

Until next time, please stay in touch and let me know how I can help.

Sincerely,

Paul
