Remember 9/11

Dear neighbor,

Today we pause to reflect upon the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On that day, our nation was viciously attacked by terrorists bent on destroying our way of life.

Thousands of innocent Americans died as a result of these attacks. Yet, through the horrors of this event, we saw the best of Americans. We saw first responders risking their own lives – willingly running into the collapsing buildings – as they sought to save the lives of strangers. Sadly, many of those heroes were unable to emerge from the wreckage.

We are reminded of the courage of the Americans aboard Flight 93 who refused to let other innocents die and sacrificed themselves to protect countless lives.

As I remember that day, I’m inspired by the valor, the patriotism, and the sense of duty our police officers, our firefighters, our medical professionals, and our fellow Americans exhibited that day.

As we move forward, may we remain vigilant against acts of terrorism throughout our world.

May we never forget September 11, 2001.
