LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR CONCLUDES THAT MNSURE'S FAILURES OUTWEIGHED ITS ACHIEVEMENTS

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

St. Paul, MN - Rep. Mary Franson (R-Alexandria) issued the following statement after the release of the Legislative Auditor’s evaluation report on MNSure. The report, made public on Tuesday, February 17, concluded that “MNSure’s failures outweighed its achievements.” The report also found that MNSure did not adequately test the website before launching in 2013 and withheld information regarding the extent of its technical problems.

“Two years ago, after the legislation that created MNsure passed the House, I said ‘Never in our state’s history has an entity been created with such significant power and so little accountability to the public,’ said Franson. “Today's findings by the Office of the Legislative Auditor concluding that ‘MNsure's failings outweighed its achievements’ confirm my early fears about the implementation of Obamacare in Minnesota.”

Franson added, “Instead of providing affordable care, MNsure has caused headaches and higher costs for families in our state. This audit underscores the immediate need to bring accountability to Obamacare in Minnesota.”
