Capitol Update from Rep. Deb Kiel

Friday, April 21, 2017

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Here is an update from the Capitol.

Negotiations Begin

This week, conference committees began meeting so that the House and Senate can work out differences and come to a final agreement on budget bills. The intent of the House is to work through changes and compromise with both the Senate and the governor during the conference committee process.

I have been appointed to the Health and Human Services conference committee, and look forward to working out a final version of the bill that addresses the needs of our most vulnerable, seniors, families and caregivers in Minnesota.

I will share more information as we move through the negotiation and conference committee process. Also, if you have any input, ideas or concerns about budget bills, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office and share your thoughts.

Back in Northwest Minnesota

Last week, the Legislature was on break and I was able to be back up in Northwest Minnesota. It was great to be home and I was fortunate to meet with folks across District 01B to discuss legislation and initiatives moving through the House this session.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who attended the town hall meetings last week. Your input and ideas are invaluable, and I appreciate you taking the time to attend. If you were unable to make it, please know my office is always available. Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail. I am here to serve you!

Sincerely,

Deb
