Rep. Kiel elected Assistant Majority Leader of the Minnesota House

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

ST. PAUL, Minn.—State Rep. Deb Kiel, R-Crookston, today was elected by her peers as an Assistant Majority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives.

As an Executive Board member, Kiel will help craft a political vision for the new House Republican Majority as well as develop policies that benefit all Minnesotans.

“As a member of leadership, I have the opportunity to be an even stronger voice for the folks of northwest Minnesota,” said Kiel. “I’m looking forward to working on commonsense, balanced legislation that is important to the hardworking families of Greater Minnesota—folks who were shut out the last two years by metro leaders.”

“Rep. Kiel will be an invaluable member of our leadership team. She brings a unique perspective as a farmer and I look forward to her input as we craft our legislative priorities,” said Speaker of the House-designate Kurt Daudt, R-Crown.

Rep. Kiel was first elected to office in 2010. She will officially assume her new leadership role and begin her third term on January 6, 2015, when the legislative session commences.
