Swedzinski: House working on meaningful tax relief

Thursday, April 19, 2018

ST. PAUL – Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, said the Minnesota House soon will unveil a supplemental tax bill and indicates it will be part of an overall budget plan which varies dramatically from Gov. Mark Dayton’s.

The Minnesota Department of Revenue this week issued a tax incidence study showing Dayton’s overall plan would raise taxes on Minnesotans in every income bracket. Households making less than $32,000 would be hit the hardest.

“Republicans, of course, were very concerned with that because it raises taxes pretty much on every single tax bracket in the state,” Swedzinski said. “Our plan is to come out with our tax plan early next week so that we can really show what a vision for the state of Minnesota is and how we can relieve taxes across the state to increase job creation and slow the burden on families so they can keep more money in their own pockets.”
