Swedzinski statement re: ‘booby traps’ in Minnesota cornfield

Friday, November 22, 2019

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, issued the following statement in response to reports of log chains and metal posts recently being placed in at least one Meeker County farm. Authorities say the objects may have been placed as “booby traps” to damage farm implements during harvesting.

“We cannot allow this, so we’re going to be looking at what we possibly can be doing at the legislative level to help curb this from a criminality standpoint, from a terrorism standpoint – because that’s what it is – and we need to nip this in the bud so it’s not a growing problem across the state,” Swedzinski said. “And, if the Legislature can play a part in that, we’re going to be working hard to help address those issues.”
