Rep. Swedzinski named to joint conference committee

Monday, May 9, 2022

ST. PAUL - State Rep. Chris Swedzinski, R-Ghent, has been named to a joint conference committee that will work to prepare a package of jobs, energy and commerce provisions for final passage in the Legislature.

Swedzinski is the ranking Republican on the House Climate and Energy Committee. He said the bill assembled by House Democrats (S.F. 4091) on this subject would raise billions of dollars in taxes and impose new expensive mandates on employers, damaging Minnesotans who already are struggling with today’s price increases.

“As a Legislature, we should be focusing on ways we can help our job creators who already have been suffering burdensome mandates, onerous state regulations and rising prices,” Swedzinski said. “Unfortunately, the bill House Democrats approved would only make things worse for those people. Their bill also funds the Twin Cities extremists’ wish list while doing almost nothing to offset skyrocketing energy costs the rest of us face.”

Swedzinski indicated the conference committee is likely to begin meeting soon so the House and Senate can seek agreement on a bill to present for final passage before the Legislature is scheduled to adjourn May 23.
