STATEMENT from Rep. Steve Green re: executive orders extended

Thursday, April 30, 2020

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, issued the following statement Thursday after Gov. Tim Walz indicated his stay-at-home order for Minnesota will be extended to May 18, while allowing more retail businesses to open with restrictions.

“With all the planning that has taken place the last month or so, and all the information we have gathered, we are ready to safely re-open Minnesota,” Green said. “Extending these restrictions yet again is beyond excessive. The way it is going, we will be spending our Independence Day locked inside and letting the Secretary of State control our November election. It seems like we are shifting from crisis mitigation to something else and it needs to end because businesses and livelihoods are being destroyed. We literally are losing small businesses by the day as the big retailers are allowed to keep their doors open, yet the governor won’t take off the tourniquet he’s wrapped around Minnesota.”
