FOSSTON – State Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, issued the following statement after the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency on Monday issued a stormwater permit for the proposed Line 3 replacement pipeline, the final state permit needed for Enbridge to begin construction.
“To say this is a great day is an understatement,” Green said. “This project is long overdue, but here we are, ready to put shovels in the ground after enduring six years of intense scrutiny in the studying and permitting phases. This final permit approval is a victory for improving our energy security with a safer, state-of-the-art pipeline and it also is a big boost for our local economy, bringing major private investment to our region and helping sidelined workers get back on the job. Congratulations to everyone who has worked long and hard to move this project through a rigorous process and I look forward to seeing this project soon get underway.”
