Rep. Green statement re: allegation activist leader dismissed sexual abuse allegations in her organization

Thursday, February 25, 2021

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, issued the following statement in response to a Washington Free Beacon article indicating anti-pipeline activist and Honor the Earth cofounder Winona LaDuke dismissed allegations one of her top organizers sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy:

“The recent Washington Free Beacon article about Winona LaDuke is deeply troubling,” Green said. “Court documents show LaDuke admitted that an organizer for Honor the Earth sexually assaulted a child. LaDuke’s statements in her deposition show that, as the founder and current executive director of Honor the Earth, she didn’t take allegations of pedophilia within her own organization seriously. I am calling on LaDuke to resign immediately from Honor the Earth and for Honor the Earth to provide all internal information they have about these criminal acts to law enforcement.”

LaDuke is one of the top anti-Line 3 activists, and has been a featured participant in a number of anti-Line 3 rallies attended and supported by top Democrat lawmakers and officials, including Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan.
