ST. PAUL – Minnesota’s 2022 legislative session began Monday and Rep. Steve Green, R-Fosston, said tax relief is a top priority in light of the state’s projected surplus of $7.7 billion and growing.
“My top three priorities this session are tax relief, tax relief and still more tax relief,” Green said. “Our state is swimming in tax dollars right now, at a time citizens and businesses are being gouged by inflation and lost revenue. Our top priorities this session should include ending the state’s tax on Social Security income and also sparing our businesses from the unemployment insurance tax increase a lack of state action will cost them.
“Public safety also will be a major topic of discussion because we need to get a grip on the wave of violent crime in our state. And, as always, I will continue working to defend our constitutional rights this session, from upholding the Second Amendment to protecting the integrity of our elections. I’m honored to be back at the Capitol representing the people of District 2B and look forward to what the next handful of months holds in store.”
Green said he welcomes correspondence throughout the session and encourages District 2B residents to call (651) 296-9918 or email rep.steve.green@house.mn to get in touch.
