Committee Work Begins

Dear neighbor,

After a ceremonious and abbreviated first week of the new legislative session last week, I spent the first full week at the legislature diving into my committee work.

All of my committees have met at least once. The Environment and Natural Resources Policy Committee has already met twice. Last week, the committee heard testimony relating to groundwater from the Department of Natural Resources, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and other state agencies. While it is still early in the process, I have some concerns that state agencies appear to be blaming industry and agriculture for current groundwater quality instead of taking into consideration the effect that drought has had on our region. I’ll continue to monitor this issue as it moves through the legislative process and expect to hear more this week.

As always, I can be reached via email at rep.steve.green@house.mn. To contact me by phone, call (651) 296-9918. Mail can be sent to Rep. Steve Green, 231 State Office Building, 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., St. Paul, Minnesota 55155. Please feel free to share this update with friends and family and encourage them to sign up for my email updates by clicking the link (http://www.house.leg.state.mn.us/members/join.asp?id=15395) and putting in your contact information.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Steve
