Rep. Freiberg Statement on Passage of 2025 Elections Budget

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Last night, the Minnesota House passed the 2025 Elections Budget as part of the State Government and Elections Budget bill. The bill includes funding for the Help America Vote Act, to expand polling places on tribal lands, and streamline the dispute resolution process for election errors.

Co-Chair of the Elections and Government Operations Committee, Rep. Mike Freiberg (DFL – Golden Valley), released the following statement.

“I’m pleased with the bipartisan work we accomplished this session, and proud that we protected the progress we made in election access and security last term. Voting is a right, and in a time where too many are baselessly sewing seeds of distrust in our election processes, I have consistently fought for safe, secure elections that are accessible to Minnesotans. This bill protects that progress and takes some small steps to enhance security even further.”

The bill passed on a bipartisan vote of 116-18. It now awaits signature by Governor Walz.
