Dear Neighbors,

Here is an update on the latest news from St. Paul.

This week in the Public Safety Committee, I presented my bill to expand a domestic abuse prevention grant program for veterans called “Change Step”. This program is tailored to military culture and provides group therapy geared towards veterans or active duty military members who have been domestic abusers. My bill would appropriate almost $400,000 in FY 2020 and 2021 to expand this important program. Below are some photos from the bill hearing.

Yesterday during session, we unanimously passed Senate File 2225, which expands the disaster recovery loan program in response to the recent collapse of many farm building roofs. The loan program will now allow farmers to access the disaster recovery loan program to repair their farm buildings when they’re damaged by the weight of snow, sleet, or ice.

Next Tuesday is Dairy Day at the Capitol – here is a photo of a recent visit by the Skibas, who own a dairy farm in the district:
