RELEASE: Rep. Ron Kresha Statement on Broadband Funding

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

ST. PAUL, MN—On Wednesday, the Minnesota House passed the Job Growth & Energy Affordability, Agriculture and Environment & Natural Resources Supplemental Budget bill (HF 3931) on a bipartisan vote of 72-54. Rep. Ron Kresha, R-Little Falls, issued the following statement on the $40 million of broadband funding contained in the bill.

“Including broadband dollars in the omnibus education bill, we’ve proposed $47 million in new broadband investment,” said Kresha. “When combined with federal Connect America Funds, over $100 million in broadband initiatives and investment will flow into rural broadband projects. We owe it to the residents of our unserved and underserved areas to provide the internet connection they need to keep pace with the Twin Cities.”
