News from Representative Kresha 5-10-19

Friday, May 10, 2019

Dear Neighbors,

The American Legion Riders and Richard Howard-Ferrell Post #46 in Little Falls will be hosting a “Families of Deployed Service Members Meal” on May 21st, 2019 from 5-7pm. The intent is to provide a free spaghetti dinner to the families of all those deployed with the 34th ID (Red Bulls). Spouses, significant others, and children are all welcome. Others who wish to support families of our deployed service members are also welcome to attend for a per-plate goodwill offering. If you want more information, please check out the American Legion Riders Facebook page here.

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. I want to wish all of the mothers in our community and across the nation a happy Mother’s Day. I look forward to celebrating all the great mothers in my life, and I hope you do the same!

All the budget bills have passed the House and Senate and we are waiting for agreements between the House DFL and Senate GOP. The biggest challenge seems to be how much taxes should be raised. The House DFL budget creates $12 Billion in new taxes--I have heard that is too much and irresponsible in our current economy.

Before we start with how much revenue, we should have started with how much is available and how much of an increase can Minnesotans absorb.

A couple of items that I am watching:

  • Increased training for social workers who work in our child protection system.
  • Opportunity scholarships to get more 0-4 year-olds quality preschool.
  • Not cutting our nursing homes.

Have a great weekend.

Ron
