Representative Ron Kresha Urges Against Walz’s High Gas Prices

Thursday, March 31, 2022

St. Paul, MN – Representative Ron Kresha (R-Little Falls) says Governor Walz’s Clean Fuels Standards report falls flat in understanding the true concerns and needs of Minnesotans.

The Governor’s Clean Fuels Standards report, released this week, includes Walz’s plan to implement fuel regulations that would add between 20 to 50 cents more per gallon to Minnesota’s gas prices. None of these added costs would support roads or bridges.

“Not shockingly, Governor Walz remains out of touch with Minnesotans,” Kresha said. “The governor is determined to try and create a mini-California here in the land of 10,000 lakes. Minnesotans do not want it.”

In 2021, Governor Walz adopted the “California Car regulations,” adding $1,000 minimum to the cost of new vehicles.

Kresha has worked diligently on creating options to oppose Walz’s attempts at new regulations. He is a co-signer of HF3206, providing consumers choices in fuel and vehicle dealers choices in cars they sell.

Governor Walz has created these regulations through rulemaking, rather than bringing them to the floor for a vote.
“The Governor knows these rules would not pass the smell test of the legislature,” Kresha said. “As we have seen since the beginning of his term, Walz won’t rule with bipartisan support and legislature input.”
